Apres- Meetings

ML10308UK_M2002-2448 Evening Star Lo No

Since our foundation in 1877, what happens after our meetings has always been just as important as what happens in them.

To mark the importance of this link, our Master's gavel is the same one used by H.R.H The Prince of Wales when he attended our banquet in 1933.

It is traditional for each meal to be followed by a 'Festive Board', at which all of our guests and members join us for a formal, three course, meal.

It is our tradition to pass around the silver cigarette box over dinner, which was donated by one of our founding members, Brother Sir John Aird, Bart, in 1908.

The Lodge also carries with it a collection of antique Evening Star Lodge firing glasses. These heavy bottomed glasses are traditionally charged between toasts, and then emptied, before being banged heavily back onto the table in unison. Given that masonic toasts are frequent and many, this custom necessitates a fairly liberal supply of wine.

One of the great benefits of dining over lunch on a Saturday is that our guests and members are left the remainder of the weekend to enjoy each other's company, and really this is what we are all about.
